View across St Peter Port in Guernsey

Cattle and Coastline

This is a biodiversity journey around Guernsey with our guide Dave Bartram, where you will be able to see the herd of six steers that he manages in order to increase biodiversity. You will be able to get up close with the cattle who always love a scratch from a passer-by.

You will visit the calves who are brought up in a different location and there will be the opportunity to feed the calves. You will see how grazing, as opposed to mowing, can help the environment as well as learning about Guernsey. This tour is for small groups of up to six and will be in the hotel's own vehicle.

This tour will be approximately three hours and will include refreshments. Prices are available on request.

Pétanque and Gâche

Join Dave Bartram on a trip to one of St Peter Port's Pétanque terrains. Whilst learning about the history of the game often referred to as French Boules, you will also hear stories of Guernsey’s culture and heritage before embarking on a game of Pétanque with the winner taking home a loaf of Guernsey Gâche.

Suitable for groups between two to eight people. Prices are available on request for a two-hour session.

Savouring Guernsey

This experience involves a walk with our guide Gill Girard from the Folk Museum in Saumarez Park to see the old cider press at Le Tertre. Wander through the lanes and medieval tracks to their family home and enjoy a taste of local produce served in the garden overlooking the west coast.

Sample local cheeses, local cider, apple juice, chocolate fudge, sloe gin and more whilst sharing anecdotes about the history of the property and Guernsey farming traditions. Enjoy the family’s hospitality before your transport arrives to take you back to the hotel.

A taste of Guernsey with Gill Girard

In this experience, you will take a drive from the hotel, calling in at a private farm museum in the rural parish of St Pierre du Bois. Visit the famous Golden Guernsey goats before visiting the home of Jerry and Gill Girard to sample local cheeses, local cider, apple juice, chocolate fudge, sloe gin and more. Share anecdotes about the history of the property and Guernsey farming traditions and enjoy the family’s hospitality, before your transport arrives to take you back to the hotel.

A historical walk through Guernsey

Starting from the Folk Museum, take a longer ramble (approximately two hours) through the lanes on a circular route, onto the St Germain quarry and then through the fields to the home of Gill and Jerry Girard. Enjoy a local food tasting before continuing your ramble through the medieval footpaths back to Saumarez Park.
