General Manager

Prior to joining the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in June 2009, I was Owner/Manager of the Brue at Lydford-on-Fosse, Somerset. Before that I had a number of very successful years with von Essen Hotels, as General Manager of the Ston Easton Park Hotel in Somerset and Congham Hall in Norfolk. I am very proud to lead a team of dedicated employees who are all genuinely committed to providing each individual guest with a memorable experience based upon warm, friendly and attentive service.

Holly Marquand

PA to the General Manager

Having worked for the United Nations in Geneva for seven years I spent three years living and working in Johannesburg before moving to Guernsey in 1994. I joined The Old Government House Hotel & Spa in 1998 as the Conference and Banqueting PA and very soon I was running the department. I was Director of Meetings and Events at The OGH up until 2012 before becoming PA to Andrew. It is wonderful helping to ensure that Red Carnation Hotels’ high standards are upheld consistently throughout.

With over two decades of culinary experience, I’ve been creating exceptional cuisine since 2002. As Executive Head Chef at the Old Government House Hotel and Spa in Guernsey, I bring both passion and precision to every plate. I’m known for thriving under pressure and leading with confidence, guiding a skilled kitchen team through the dynamic, fast-paced world of professional cooking with dedication, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

With a diverse background in hospitality and sales, I spent 22 years in Cheshire before making the move to Guernsey in 2022. Naturally outgoing and relationship-driven, I thrive on meaningful connections and creating memorable experiences. I was instantly captivated by the rich history and timeless elegance of the Old Government House, and I take great pride in sharing its charm with clients and guests. It's here that my passion for hospitality and genuine connection truly comes to life.

I relocated to Guernsey in 2023 to take on the role of Front Office Manager at The Old Government House Hotel & Spa. My career in hospitality has taken me across the globe, with previous experience in the Seychelles, Maldives, and Australia. Reservations & Revenue Manager

With over 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, I currently serve as the Revenue & Reservations Manager, a role I’ve proudly held for the past 14 years. Throughout my career, I’ve specialised in maximising revenue opportunities and delivering exceptional guest service, all whilst staying attuned to the evolving needs of both the market and our guests.

Housekeeping Manager

I have been part of the Old Government House family for over three years, beginning as a Room Attendant, and I am now proudly leading the housekeeping team. I’m passionate about creating a genuine home-from-home experience for guests, focusing on anticipating their needs and perfecting every detail. What truly inspires me is the incredible team I work alongside. Their commitment, precision, and heartfelt care shine through in everything we do. Together, we ensure every stay is exceptional.

Food & Beverage Duty Manager

I began my journey with Red Carnation Hotels in 2018 at The Oyster Box Hotel in South Africa, where I worked in room service, breakfast, and as Minibar Manager. In 2022, I relocated to Guernsey to take on my current role. Known for my warm and outgoing personality, I am passionate about creating memorable guest experiences and building meaningful relationships. I also take great pride in supporting and inspiring my team, fostering their professional growth while upholding the highest standards.

Michaela Ruzzon

Human Resources & Training Manager

On completion of my degree in Hospitality Management I worked in a variety of departments in hotels all over Europe. I joined The OGH in 2002 as Trainee Manager. After a year I was promoted to Personnel and Training Manager, a role which I have enjoyed developing for the hotel. Since The OGH became a Red Carnation Hotel it has been wonderful to implement such an extensive training programme for our dedicated team, and I look forward to helping new members of the team achieve their career goals.

Melanie Aston

Event Sales Manager

I joined The Old Government House in April 2022 as an Events Coordinator and was proud to be promoted to Events Sales Manager a year later. In this role, I manage a diverse portfolio of events, from corporate meetings to celebrations, all whilst working closely with clients to realise their visions. I pride myself on being highly organised, attentive, and committed to delivering each event to the highest standard. My friendliness and approachability help me build lasting relationships.

Laura Eggo

Gym Manager

After completing my Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Physiology at the University of Chichester, I returned to my home island to join the fitness team at the Old Government House Hotel & Spa. Since then, I’ve grown within the team, progressing from Fitness Instructor to Supervisor, and now proudly leading the team as Manager. I’m dedicated to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment where all members and guests feel supported on their fitness journeys.

Amanda Nyadongo

Spa Manager

I began my hospitality journey in 2011, at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town, starting as a Receptionist and progressing to Duty Manager. In 2022, I moved to Guernsey to continue my career in a luxury spa environment. I am passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences, leading my team with care, and maintaining the highest standards. Seeing guests leave relaxed and rejuvenated is incredibly rewarding, and I take pride in creating moments that bring them back.
